{Second & Dahlia's Style Steals}

Isn't this look that Michelle sent over yesterday a dream?  It might be a little to pretty for me.  I am imagining myself sitting on that sofa with a coffee and trying my hardest not to spill it.  But just because it might not be Jessica friendly does not mean it is not gorgeous.  My favorite picks for today are th rug Michelle picked and the top I found.  Happy Thursday...J

{Spring and SAD}

So the gloomy weather is really starting to annoy me.  I mean I feel like every time the sun takes a look over the clowds I need to run outside as fast as I can to get a little pick me up.  Two of us in my office keep joking that we suffer from SAD, which is really no joking matter, but the weather really seems to impact my mood some days.  Any of the rest of you tired of the gloom?  At the time being there is really nothing I can do, but start to plan my spring looks as the layers slowly come off.  Here are a couple of spring outfits that I started to wear this time last year.  Light sweaters, peep toes, flowy dresses, are all neatly tucked away waiting for their return.  See you soon friends....J

{THIS in THAT: Outdoor Dinner}

I am hosting my weekly girls dinner tomorrow, and I found myself wishing that I could host our little din outside on my back proch.  That will not be happening as we are potentially getting snow this week.  I will have to settle for the day dreaming.  Wishing I was in THAT outdoor dining space in THIS sequin frock.  Because doesn't everyone wear sequin dresses to the casual dinners they are hosting?  I hope so.  Happy Tuesday...J

{A Year Ago Today}

Been working so very hard to stock the shop for my reopening this Wednesday.  I decided to take a look back to last year to see what I was doing with my jewelry almost a year ago today.  And this is what I found.  The pictures from my mini shoot I did for a Trunk Show at Savoir-Faire for Norwest Arkansas Fashion Week.  Still in awe of the wonderful support you all have given for my tiny jewelry and blog business.  You all are simply the best!  Happy Monday...J

{Love You: Emily}

I first met Emily of Main Street Chic when she reached out to me a while back to participate in her "5 Things" guest post here.   Since then we have been blog and instagram buddies.  I am constantly impressed with the amazing interior design ideas and DIY's Emily does, and of course feel she is a kindred spirit as we both have Cavalier King Charles.  I am so excited for you to meet her and hear what she is loving about herself.
"First, off- I want to say thank you to Jessica for implementing a series that is so significant. Often, when we think about the things we love in our lives, they are outward things: friends, family, boyfriends/hubbys, loved ones, pets, jobs, etc. And I agree that it is SO important to feel and express gratitude for these things.
But I also think it is a very healthy and needed practice to sit down and ask ourselves- “what do I love about ME?” For me, it wasn’t about gloating, pride, or arrogance, it was a genuinely honest exercise that I think every one of us should do! Here we go.
1. I love my loyalty. If I love you……. I LOVE YOU. I am not an ‘in between’ person and I would do anything for those I love. It’s that simple.
2. I love my hair. My hair has been a lot of different things over the years: blonde, short, black, long, curly, flapper-esque, wanna-be Christina Aguilera in the “Dirty” video- you name it, I’ve probably done it. And I’ve loved every minute of it. Over the past few years, I’ve settled on my ‘style’ and I’m so grateful to have hair that does what I want it to.
3. I love that I am an animal lover. If you are a fellow animal lover, then you just get what I mean. I generally like animals better than I like people. And again, if you love animals like I do, you recognize it’s not that weird to feel that way!
4. I love my crafting and DIY ability. I’m pretty good at the whole Do It Yourself thing. Having a project gives me immense satisfaction and purpose, and I love having the ability to create something from nothing, or upcycle an old item. It’s the best.
5. I love that I don’t struggle with loving myself. Before I go further, I will say that I do have insecurities- I mean, who doesn’t?? But I was blessed to grow up with parents who taught me not to look to the outside world for affirmation. I live every day rooted in the knowledge that God created me to be exactly how I am. And overall, I’m pretty happy with it!
Thanks again for having me, Jessica! I so appreciate the opportunity!"
I love that Emily talks about being "blessed to grow up with parents who taugher me not to look to the outside world for affirmation."  How special to think about the ones in our lives that help us feel good about ourselves on the inside.  Also, I can see why she loves her DIY skills because she is amazing at it.  Thank you so much Emily for coming to DahliaLynn today to share what you are loving about yourself.  If you have not already done so, please head on over to Main Stree Chic to check out Emily's amazing taste.  Happy Friday and lotsa love...J

{En Route to Tulip}

So I am just giddy with excitment today!!  Many of you know that Ms. TulipLouise is one of my oldest and best friends.  We have not lived in the same city since high school, but she is just one of my soul sisters.  Every time we get to see each other it is like not a moment has passed.  For those of you that don't know, Ms. TL finally took a swan dive into one of her life long dreams, and moved to N-Y-C!!!!!  For me, she has always seemed like she was plucked from the streets of NY, but now it is official.  And this gal {that's ME} is headed up North today to help put some finishing touches on her adorable new place.

Since sometimes when I travel alone, disaster strikes.....to avoid any mishaps, I decided to only take a carry-on, and now is a good time to mention I hate rolling carry-ons.  Mostly for the scene I cause trying to shove them into the over head bins in the airplane.  So I am proud to announce that everything I plan to wear in NYC is safely tucked in to one carry on duffel.  Be impressed, very impressed.  Knowing that the weekend will be filled with visits over coffee, some manuel labor in the APT, nights on the town, lots of walking, shopping, eating...it was a little tough to pack.  Not to mention its hard not to feel like a hot mess, next to the impeccable dressed TulipLouise.  So yesterday I snagged some photos from my Pinterest boards to narrow my focus.  I hope to share everything I brough with you next week.  Until tomorrow, happy Thursday...J

{Secpmd & Dahlia's Style Steals}

I simple love the sweet hues of this inspiration picture that I spotted on Pinterest yesterday.  There is just something so calming about the whole scene.  I realize that this outfit might be jumping a little ahead to spring, but I thought the large coat warmed things up.  My favorite picks today are all the amazing pieces of art Michelle found and the fun bag I stumbled upon. Happy Thursday...J

{Floral Eclectic}

So I promised you all a different look with my new floral jeans later this week, and here I am.  I liked the smaller floral print of the jeans against the larger floral print of this shift dress.  Was trying to also bring out the copper tones in the necklace with these copper heels.  How did I do?  Do you prefer this look or yesterday's look?  Happy Wednesday...J

{Partaaa}

Last year I won a private party at the Nashville Stuart Weitzman for me and some of my close buddies.  Just an evening of wine, cheese, crackers, laughs, shoes, and more shoes.  Bonus was that the party came with a generous gift certificate for me and a generous discount for my buddies.  So this past Sunday, a little group of us spent about 2 hours in the gorgeous store playing dress up, sharing stories, catching up, talking shopping addictions, and making decision about what pretties to take home.  I decided on the pretty blue heels above that are patiently waiting in my closet now for Spring.  There was such an amazing mix of pretties in the store the decision was not easy.  From pops of color to amazing leathers to winter sale items to summer jellies, it was overwhelming all the eye catching goodies they had packed in to that one little space.  A big thank you to the Nashville Stuart Weitzman for hosting us.  Happy Wednesday...J

{Flower Power}

I finally found the cutest pair of floral jeans.  I have been wanting some for a while, but was simply not going to pay an arm and a leg for them.  Still not sure how often I will wear them but for $25.00 at Forever 21, I am ok with that.  I thought this week I would take a stab at two looks that have multiple floral patterns with my new jeans.  Today is a bit more dressy, and check back later this week for something more casual.  Happy Tuesday...J

{Hugs for Free}

Hello wonderful people!  I hope that this day has been filled with lots of love, hugs, and kisses from all your favorite people.  You know I love looking back at my old looks, so today I rounded up a couple of my favorite looks that would be perfect for Valentines Day events, casual, cute, dressy, comfy....you will find lots of ideas for whatever you have planned tonight.  A good rule of thumb to be festive is wearing something in the red, purple, and pink color family, even if it is just lipstick.  Also I am giving out free hugs for anyone interested.  I do this regularly anyways, but just sayin.  Happy Valentines to you and your loved ones...J
