Snow Blower

So I did it.  I bit the bullet.  I joined the Northern Indiana masses.  I, Jessica Reasons, purchased a snow blower, and I like it.  On our first trip to the Home Depot in Indiana last year, I saw this long line of contraptions. I literally asked Stuart, "What are those?"  He looks at me and says "Your joking?"

I really had never seen a snow blower.  Not thinking we would need one last winter, we turned down a family member's kind offer to get us one.  Once winter showed its true colors, we were regretting the decision, but it sort of became this competition with "old man winter."

Well this year, I had no shame.  I survived last year.  I shoveled for countless hours, and I deserved a snow blower of my own.  So we bought one.  It is little, but mighty and runs on a rechargeable battery.  It even has a little spotlight for easy snow blowing in the pitch black of the morning.  I am able to clear our parking pad, our sidewalks, and both of the neighbors' sidewalks in 40 minutes.

For those of you that know me, are you wondering if my blog has been hacked?  We have two great guest rooms if you want to come see me and the snow blower in action.  Happy Tuesday....J

Ikat, Be My Guest

Hi there and Happy Monday!  Writing today from one of my favorite places in the world.  My hometown of Fort Smith, AR.  Still cannot believe I get a whole week home.  Happy Camper.

Today I want to invite Ikat to be my guest.  I about died when I was searching Pinterest for a blue themed party motif and stumbled upon the first shot here.  I have to admit this eye catching print was never at the top of my print list for a party, but she is now.  If you are an Ikat lover like me, how easy would it be to grab a few yards of your favorite Ikat print to make a great tablecloth?  Feeling a little less inclined, try some sweet Ikat napkins to liven up your look.

What do you think?  Would you invite Ikat to the partaaa....J

Double Feature

About once every month, my buddy and I catch up on all the latest movies in theaters we have not had a chance to see.  Sometimes one afternoon movie turns in to two movies and a sweet little Sunday is born.  This past Sunday we caught "Alexander's Horrible and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" and "St. Vincent."  I recommend them both if you are in the mood for some laughs, some tears, and a warm fuzzy feeling.  Happy Thursday...J

Slow Down

Some days you just have to slow down.  Even though I spent a lot of time working this weekend, we found some time to slow things down.  Did not hurt that I spent most of the weekend in these pants with an elastic waistband and this sweater that feels like a bunny.  Happy Tuesday...J

Hostess with the Mostess Monday: Mexican Blankets

Anyone who knows me, knows my mad love for Mexican blankets.  I always keep my eye out for them at antique shops or flea markets.  I have been lucky enough to find a few and receive one as a sweet gift from a BFF after her trip to Mexico.  What started out as a love affair for pretty colors and prints grew to an appreciation for usefulness.

You see these gals are much more than a pretty face.  Aside from the perfect cover up for a cool night on your porch or trip to the beach, they are perfect for parties.  Need an eye catching table runner, tablecloth, bench cover, or scarf...your Mexican blanket can save the day.  Though they are an obvious choice for your next fiesta, I hope you will think of them next time you are roasting s'mores in the backyard, planning a wedding, or hosting some friends for a brunch.

Happy Monday...J

Feels Like Home

This week has been a little bittersweet to tell you the truth.  We are coming off two great weekends with family.  While I am on a bit of a high from new town pride, it is hard to be so far away from family.  The past two weekends we have spent our days taking our guests on tours of our new favorite hometown spots.

Think tours of an amazing university right in our backyard, pancakes at our favorite local brunch spot, small bites at our favorite tapas spot, delicious steak dinners, a trip to the VERY close lake Michigan, shopping at my favorite local antique stores, make your own pizza night on our sweet little front porch, morning coffees in the quiet of our new place, the list goes on.

While we love our new home, these visits are a bit of a reminder of the distance separating us from our family and many friends.  But there is no denying that we are building a beautiful little life here.  In one year, we have made so many new memories and friendships that I know will last a lifetime.

As I was sharing these sentiments with my sweet Mumsey this week, she said that after a few visits she knew we were in a place where people were watching out for us.  I could not agree more.  It is feeling more like home every day.  Happy Thursday...J
