Permacloud

So I am starting to get a little concerned about this whole cold weather, snow thing that is headed my way for our first winter in South Bend, IN.  People are starting to joke about the "permacloud," lake effects {whatever that means}, and snot getting frozen on your face while walking outside.  It does seem much colder here than it usually is in Nashville this time of year.

Out of curiosity, I decided to look back at last October to see what I was wearing around Nashville.  You know...get a little winter inspiration from the big Y-O-U.  Think again.  I will go ahead and tell you that not a single one of these outfits would be appropriate for the chill in the air that is already happening.  I guess the good news is you will get to see lots of new winter looks around these parts.  Any suggestions from you cold weather pros out there?  Happy Wednesday...J 

New Blooms

"Bloom where you are planted."  I had not heard this saying until last Wednesday, when my dear friend shared the quote on her blog.  After several crazy weeks of moving, I really felt like last week everything started to seem real.  Yes we did in fact pack up our life and move hundreds of miles away.  As it turns out, this is not a dream.  So as we start to build a new life in a city much different than Nashville, I find so much comfort in this simple saying.  "Bloom where you are planted."  Reminds me that regardless of where I live, I still get to be the same person, married to the same man, with the same family, friends, and memories.  Only difference is I get to bloom again in a new spot, which in turn will bring new friends, new memories, and new challenges.  And the great thing is....I get to have a hand in it all.  Cheers to new blooms!!  Happy Monday...J

Flap Happy

I am still flap-{per} happy about this amazing skirt I found at Riffraff.  I wore this outfit to a dinner out with my best buddies a few weeks before we moved.  So not only do I love the style of this fun skirt, but now every time I wear it I will be reminded of fond memories.   Happy Wednesday...J

Running on Happy

Happy Tuesday!  It has been too long.  I am sitting here crossing my fingers that there are still a couple of you checking in here at DL every once and a while.  I am almost...almost...finished with my busy time of year.  At this point, I am doing my best just to run on happy because I have some happy things in my life right now.

I just have a couple of large projects and events to finished up in September, so I can properly welcome October with glittery pumpkins, mums, and lots of candy.  Should be no surprise to you that during the tough times I turn to floral, my old friend.  In my mind, there is nothing that a comfy, floral flock, tasty meal, and time with my man can't fix.  Are you as excited for the change in season as I am?  See you soon...J

{Diaper Bags, Work Outs, & Mary Poppins}

It is that time of year at work when the hours are long and my needs are many.  You have probably noticed, since new posts are looking a little slim around here.  Just two more large events this week, and then I get my life back.  But busy times always remind me of my love for big, chic bags.  My co-workers call them my diaper bags because I could literally be carrying enough in them to take care of myself and a small child.  I also feel like carrying these giant bags around packed to the brim is kind of like a work out.  Can I get a whoop, whoop fellow big bag lovers?  So in the spirit of Mary Poppins-ish bags,  I thought I would share a few of my favorite big, bags today.  All big, all different, and all chic.  Do you have a favorite big bag in your closet?  Do you even like big bags?  Nice to write to you friends...J
